Leather is skin; it needs to stay hydrated to prevent cracking.

Clean: Wipe with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. For deeper cleans, use a dedicated leather cleaner or saddle soap.
Condition: Apply a leather conditioner every 3–6 months to keep the material supple.
Polish: Use a color-matched cream or wax polish to restore shine and cover scuffs.

For Suede & Nubuck
These materials are "open-pore" and highly susceptible to water damage and staining.

Clean: Never use water. Use a Suede Brush (brass or nylon bristles) to lift the nap and remove dust. For stains, use a suede eraser.
Protect: Apply a PFC-free waterproof spray before the first wear.
Revive: If the texture looks flat, hold the shoe over a pot of steam for a few seconds, then brush gently.
